Genomic Arts

About Us

The algorithm

For the generation of GenomicArts, we use precise geometric rules of shape generation to translate organism-specific genomic information into a set of unique brush strokes. The robustness of these rules to small variations results in visually similar yet non-identical art pieces for different variants of the same species. The harmonious diversity of shapes in the generated art reflects the richness and mystery of the code of life.

Vahe Galstyan

Vahe is a quantitative scientist and generative art enthusiast. He is interested in the physics of living organisms, how principles and mathematical laws give rise to robust behavior while allowing for rich diversity of biological shape and molecular composition. He studied biological physics at the California Institute of Technology.
